I do have a budget to keep in mind, but also want to ensure the best for my family (wife, 2yo, and 7mo). I know the cost of each and the price of the Ramjet with a warranty will be about $3000 more than the 5.3 swap. The 5.3 seems to yield slighty better fuel economy with similar power to the Ramjet. The RamJet w/ MEFI 4 seems to be a much simpler install and with a warranty to boot. I have rebuilt and installed engines, so I'm no stranger to that, but am having trouble with deciding between the two. As my family and I are moving to Alaska soon (Bethel - read 'bush country), I need to update my daily driver as we will drive it across the country (a little vacation prior to the move ).
I have a '85 60 with a tired 350 and H55 installed. I've read and read everything I can find on both but am lacking clarity.
